In the heart of Moore, Oklahoma, Michelle Schlaud and Dawn Cruz, the dynamic duo and owners of HOTWORX Moore, have created a haven for health and wellness enthusiasts. Their journey into the world of HOTWORX was not just a business endeavor but a personal transformation inspired by the remarkable benefits of this unique fitness concept. Dawn, unfortunately, had been grappling with health issues, including an autoimmune disease, for the past 5-8 years. It was during this challenging period that Michelle introduced her to the transformative experience of a HOTWORX studio in Tulsa.

HOTWORX offers a unique exercise program designed for users to enjoy the advantages of infrared heat absorption during a 30-minute Isometric workout or 15-minute High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. As the infrared heat permeates your body, inducing sweat, the isometric postures enhance detoxification by actively expelling toxins from your organs through muscle contraction. Our patented sauna integrates heat, infrared, and exercise, creating what we fondly refer to as “3D Training.” This distinctive approach sets HOTWORX apart as a workout experience unparalleled by any other fitness program on the market.

“Dawn loved it!” Michelle says. The infrared sauna, a key component of the HOTWORX program, worked wonders for her. “My body was in less pain, I had more energy, and the infrared sauna significantly helped my neuropathy,” Dawn shares. Consistent sessions at HOTWORX brought about a positive metamorphosis for Dawn. Driven by this personal success story, Michelle and Dawn were inspired to share these benefits with their community. Thus, Hotworx Moore was born.

HOTWORX Moore is more than just a fitness studio; it’s a close-knit community and a family. The owners prioritize a family-friendly, warm, and inclusive environment. Their aim is to create a space that is welcoming to everyone, free from judgment. Members at Hotworx Moore experience a unique camaraderie.

The community is wonderfully diverse, with individuals from various walks of life—local teachers, parents, college students, retirees, health workers, police officers, husband and wife teams, working adults—all coming together. This varied mix adds to the richness of the community, fostering connections and support among individuals with different backgrounds and experiences.

Beyond its fitness offerings, what truly distinguishes HOTWORX Moore is its community-driven ethos. The studio operates with an open-door policy, inviting members to share their thoughts and feedback freely. This commitment to transparency and accessibility is underscored by the fact that all members have direct access to the owners’ cell phone numbers. The HOTWORX Moore experience is defined by a genuine sense of community, where each member’s voice is heard and valued.

Creating a stress-free environment is crucial for the owners, who understand the demands of modern life. “Each time I walk into HOTWORX Moore for my shift, I walk in knowing the time will be enjoyable and stress-free because of the leadership and the team environment they have built there,” says Hannah, one of their employees. HOTWORX Moore isn’t just a fitness studio; it’s a sanctuary for relaxation and stress relief. Their goal was to create an environment that’s a great outlet for people with demanding jobs to come and relax and move stress-free.

HOTWORX Moore is gearing up for its grand opening in April, promising exciting events and specials throughout the summer. The community-focused approach, personalized attention, and the unique benefits of HOTWORX make this fitness studio a standout choice for those seeking more than just a workout.

BENEFITS OF HOTWORX

A local church in Moore, OK—Summit Fellowship—recently partnered with an agency to conduct a Needs Assessment for their surrounding community. The assessment revealed that females in their early to mid-30s represent one of the most in-need population groups, with healthcare expenses emerging as a top concern. Moved by this discovery, the pastor of Summit Fellowship reached out to Dr. Karinda Polk of Perfect Peace Physical Therapy to explore how they could make a meaningful impact on the lives of these women.

Motherhood brings profound physical and emotional changes, and every mother deserves access to proper postpartum care, especially pelvic floor therapy, to support her body through the healing process. Unfortunately, many women face financial barriers that prevent them from receiving this essential care, leaving them to navigate motherhood with physical discomfort that makes the journey even more challenging.

In response, the Miles for Mamas initiative was born, with the goal of creating a scholarship fund to remove these financial barriers and provide women with the care they need. To make a significant impact, we need strong community support. You can be part of this mission by participating in the race or partnering with us as a sponsor.

Join us on Saturday, October 19th for this exciting event, and help us make a lasting difference in the lives of mothers.

Visit www.summitfellowship.org/mamas for all the details and event registration.

Float OKC is widely known for its next-level relaxation, float therapy, and sensory deprivation. Floating is achieved while lying in highly concentrated salt water. Without the strain of gravity or pressure on many joints, muscles, or tendons, the myoskeletal system has a chance to relax and heal. The physical benefits of floating may include reduced joint, muscle, and nerve pain; more restful sleep; and more energy.

Floatation therapy is scientifically proven to provide numerous benefits for your mind, body, and overall well-being. There are many benefits to floating- mentally and physically!

From improved athletic recovery to relief from chronic pain and inflammation, to help with stress relief, to improvements with insomnia- the list of benefits is endless. Floaters enter the float pod and feel like it is one of the only places on earth where they can completely quiet the mind, shut out sensory distractions, and connect with themselves.

Benefits of Float OKC:

  1. Reduces stress and anxiety – The environment in the float tank deactivates parts of the brain responsible for stress and anxiety, which leaves you feeling calm, serene, and relaxed!
  2. Helps with pain management – The weightlessness in the tank reduces stress and inflammation on muscles and joints. Floating lowers pain and very much helps with injury or post-workout recovery.
  3. Boosts creativity – The deep meditative (also known as theta wave) state does wonders for the mind! The effects of floating reduce stress, depression, and anxiety. The right side of the brain’s activity is boosted and can increase creativity and imagination.
  4. Improves sleep – The benefit of floating does not end when you exit the tank – with less pain and stress, you will naturally achieve deeper sleep. Floating will leave you feeling relaxed for several days after your float.

The beauty of the yoga community is that you don’t have to be an expert to benefit from it. At YogaSix located in Chisholm Creek OKC and Nichols Hills, there is a class for everyone, with six core courses offering a specific focus and different body benefits in each. “It’s a communal experience,” Amy Smith Sewell, owner of YogaSix, says.

Sewell has simple advice for first-time yoga goers, “Just show up. Then keep coming.” She goes on to say it’s about consistency. “If there’s a day you aren’t feeling your best or feel like not being seen, those are the most important days to show up.”

After seeing success in Chisholm Creek OKC studio, YogaSix recently expanded into the Nichols Hills area. As you enter the studio, you’ll notice the minimalistic style with white walls and simple flooring and lighting. The team wanted to create an inviting space that “screams self-care.” To promote inclusivity and not limit the studio to members only, they offer one-time visits, class packs, and unlimited classes.

Before opening the Chisholm Creek OKC studio, Sewell knew she wanted to do something rewarding to build a sense of community. She liked the concept of yoga being available for all and wanted to create a studio that isn’t intimidating with the traditional linear aspect of chanting and Sanskrit words. They take more of a tantric perspective that you’re perfect the way you are. “In each moment in liberation, you have connectedness and can align with yourself,” Sewell states. Katie Kanak, a lead teacher, says, “The teachers are offered free yoga alliance monthly certified training and are required to hit quarterly goals. She feels that they have created an environment at the Chisholm Creek OKC and Nichols Hills studios where their students feel their teachers’ evolution.

The long-term vision is to keep building a yoga community atmosphere with excellent programs and opportunities and continue to change lives with the power of the yoga they all practice in their daily lives. “It’s a simple plan, just be there to allow people to find an hour of calm in their week to be in their body on their mat and breathe,” Kanak says.

If you’re interested in taking a class at YogaSix, here’s what to expect in each course:

101: Prepare to slow down and hone in on the foundation and refinement of alignment at a nice, cozy temperature of 80 or 85 degrees.

Slow Flow: Although this one is a slow burn, it’s by no means easy. It starts as a mindful sequencing or flow and then transitions into a power class at 95 to 100 degrees.

Hot Sequence: This is the signature set sequence, being a blend between the Bikram and Ashtanga sequences.

Power: Classes are heated, strength-building, full-body blasts designed to build focus, endurance, and flexibility.

Sculpt and Flow: Brings the best of both worlds of lifting weights and internal training cardio and cooling down with yoga.

Restore: A chill, Zen class where you can hold postures for more extended periods and focus on breathing.

Join the YogaSix Chisholm Creek OKC and Nichols Hills community here, and discover more resources for healthy people here at Fit City! We’re committed to supporting you living your best and healthiest life.
