Broken Bow, Oklahoma is one of the top tourist destinations in the United States and it’s only a quick drive from the metro area. We talked to the experts, sisters Lindsay and Jamie of Broken Bow Travel, about why visiting Broken Bow this fall and winter makes for the best weekend getaway.
Fall in Love with Broken Bow
Get ready to fall in love with Hochatown, Oklahoma. From hiking, to kayaking, to wine tasting, Hochatown has something for everyone. Jamie and Lindsay from Broken Bow Travel promote cabins in the Hochatown area, a top tourist destination in Southeast Oklahoma and in the United States. It’s home to at least 2,000 cabins in areas near the Ouachita National Forest and Beavers Bend State Park, the most popular state park in Oklahoma. This is nature’s playground: rent a boat at the gorgeous Broken Bow Lake, or fly fish on the Mountain Fork River, then retire to one of the best luxury cabin rentals available. One of the sisters’ favorite management companies is Marshmallow Memories, home to over 30 luxury cabins, from those that can house one couple up to large cabins that sleep 37. Not only do they have hot tubs, game rooms, and luxury décor, but they also come in several styles from modern farmhouse to rustic, and while some cabins are close to town, others have a relaxing creek view. They have a cabin for everyone!
What to Do in Broken Bow
Some of Jamie and Lindsay’s favorite things to do, besides renting a boat on Broken Bow Lake, is kayaking in Beavers Bend State Park. They also enjoy wine tasting at the famous Girls Gone Wine, eating at Abendigo’s and listening to live music, or going two-stepping at the Hochatown Saloon! Nestle in the pine trees, take a hike, fish, canoe, or float the Mountain Fork River. Try some fantastic zip lining and even helicopter rides! Schedule a massage at your cabin, or let Bigfoot make a special visit for the kids! We have it all! Hochatown has a new grocery store with boutique shopping called the Local 259. Make sure you visit the most iconic store in all of Oklahoma, the Hochatime store! You must buy a hat or it’s like you never came! Discover Broken Bow Cabins
Dreams and Steams – The trickling creek behind the cabin is audibly relaxing. Whether you are spending time on the spacious back deck, roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, or enjoying morning coffee on one of the private balconies off the upstairs bedrooms, you can hear the water in the creek and feel the city stress instantly melt away. This cabin is also spacious enough for large families or groups to spend quality time together, but still have their own private space to retreat and relax.
YOLO – The floor-to-ceiling windows in this cabin make you feel truly immersed in nature from the minute you walk in the door. The cabin sits tucked back on a large lot and provides more privacy than most. It’s the perfect space for 1-2 small families to disconnect from their busy lives. The slide off the back deck is a big hit with younger kids, and adults love watching their favorite team while taking a relaxing soak in the hot tub!
Meadowlark Retreat – This adults-only cabin is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just treat yourself to a well-deserved couple’s getaway. A favorite feature is the built-in steam sauna, a rare Broken Bow amenity. A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you when you walk in the door, or if coffee is more your thing, you can start your morning sipping on the back deck while watching deer visit the feeder just across the seasonal creek. Meadowlark Retreat also has an oversized walk-in shower with double rainfall shower heads complete with his and hers robes for that true spa experience.
